JAMB has prolonged the deadline for admissions into public universities for 2025

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has postponed the 2025 admissions deadline for public universities from Friday, October 31, 2025, to Monday, November 17, 2025.
This information was revealed in a statement signed by the Board’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, who indicated that the extension was necessary due to unexpected issues that hindered some institutions from finalizing their admissions procedures on time. JAMB noted that during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions, which took place on July 18, 2025, chaired by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, all public universities were initially expected to complete their admissions by October 31, 2025.
The Board explained that the original schedule was strategically established to enable other tertiary institutions—including private universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and innovation enterprise institutions—to complete their admissions prior to the final national deadline of December 31, 2025. While recognizing the hard work of institutions that tried to meet the original deadline, JAMB stated that the extension became necessary due to two significant developments: A request from the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU) due to disruptions caused by a court order that temporarily halted the 2025/2026 admission process until it was lifted on October 28, 2025. In light of these events, and to promote fairness and inclusivity, the Board has now extended the deadline for the completion of admissions for public universities to Monday, November 17, 2025,” the statement indicated.
JAMB emphasized that the new deadline is final and must be adhered to, urging all public universities to fully comply.
