About the SUG President
His Excellency, Hon. Comr. Nwogu Bright Chinonyerem, popularly known as Bright Addison, is a student of Computer Science in the College of Physical and Applied Sciences (COLPAS).
A proud indigene of Ukwa West LGA, Abia State, he currently stands as a 400 Level student and serves as the President of the Student Union Government (SUG) of MOUAU.
Before becoming President, he served with distinction as a Course Representative and later as an SRC Honourable Member, proving his dedication to student leadership through consistent service and results-driven initiatives.
Addison’s leadership journey reflects his passion for growth, innovation, and service. His personality blends humility with ambition — a leader who listens, learns, and leads by example.
As the current President of the Student Union Government (SUG) at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), he embodies the spirit of purposeful leadership and the drive to make student representation meaningful again.
Motivation for Joining SUG
My motivation has always been rooted in a deep desire to make a difference — to build a Union that truly reflects the hopes, struggles, and aspirations of every student.”
For Addison, leadership isn’t about power, but about purpose. His decision to join the Student Union Government was born out of a genuine commitment to represent students’ voices and restore confidence in student leadership.
He aims to leave behind a legacy of service — one that future leaders can build upon and students can forever be proud of.
Major Achievements
His Excellency Hon. Comr. Nwogu Bright Chinonyerem has hosted various life changing, entertaining events here on campus like;
Educational Empowerment: Hosted Mega Tutorials that significantly improved students’ academic performance.
Student Support: Partnered with philanthropists that helped numerous students facing financial challenges for their tuition.
Career Development: Organized a life-changing summit titled “After School, What Next?” — preparing students for life beyond campus.
Campus Innovation: Introduced the MOUAU Game Festival — the first of its kind in the university’s history.
When he’s not serving the student community, Addison enjoys football, writing, and watching wrestling. He draws inspiration from his faith in God, his passion for leadership, and his commitment to youth development.
Vision and Goals for Office
Addison’s vision is to redefine the Student Union Government as a platform of empowerment, innovation, and unity.
“My goal is to open the eyes of students to the power of the Union and the endless possibilities around it — to utilize this office for lasting impact both within and beyond the campus.”
He seeks to raise the standards of leadership at MOUAU — setting a pace so high that those who come after will be challenged to do even better. His administration is guided by transparency, teamwork, and transformation.
